Yellow-wattled Lapwing.

On my birding trip to Pangot I came across black and white watercolors of birds by Mr Lester Perera. Impressed was not really the word for them. Among the birds that he had perhaps painted and gifted to the guest house there were a Yellow-wattled Lapwing, Little Ringed Plover and a Pranticole. There is no way that I could have done what he did in Black and white but this bird was haunting me to put it to paper and today - after a month of that visit I could finally get the ghost off my back. Presenting Yellow-wattled Lapwing.

Lantanas...

I clicked a picture of Purple Lantanas in one of my friends house and just could not get them out of my head. I did decide to sit down and paint them but they turned out to be much more difficult than I imagined. All the same - here they are till the next attempt.

Okay - I see a problem here - a big one actually - the washes....

I had finally given up trying to progress watercolours without a push. There was a need that I try and learn some tricks of the trade from a master. I have Sonal Singh to thank for giving me that guidance. Hopefully I will be able to move ahead courtesy my master.

This is not completely finished to my satisfaction but am leaving it here and moving ahead.

I had an old photograph of Geranium that I thought I will try and put on paper. Perhaps it required more effort than the casual time I spent on it. Well here goes till the next time...

The Boat in Ganges...

I am in Patna and here I saw these boats moving up and down the River Ganges carrying sand. The boats were similar size and decorated. I thought that would be interesting subject. the problem was that the weather was so foggy and no boat was positioning itself in a manner I wanted. It is when we had turned back to head back that this boat came straight at me. The bridge in the background was the 'Mahatma Gandhi Setu' the longest bridge in India on Ganges.
